Founder of Four of a Kind Productions
Entrepreneur and film producer, Ron Stein, formed Four Of A Kind Productions (FOAK) as a vehicle for the development, financing, production, and distribution of innovative projects. Since the company’s inception, his films have yielded both critical acclaim and box office clout.
Before entering the film industry, Stein spent over 20 years as an innovative leader in the financial services and consulting industries. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Economics from the University of Delaware and an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Now focused on filmmaking, Stein bolsters FOAK through his strong network of contacts from the business world.
Stein’s first film venture was the short, THE ELEPHANT GARDEN, written and directed by Sasie Sealy in 2008. The film won the Student Visionary Award at that year’s Tribeca Film Festival and a National Board of Review prize.
In 2010, FOAK released box-office champ and indie darling, THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT; the star-studded Sundance favorite, THE ROMANTICS; and the indie crime thriller, MESKADA.
2012 saw the release of SOMEDAY THIS PAIN WILL BE USEFUL TO YOU, a coming-of-age story based on the best-selling novel by Peter Cameron.
Early 2014 The horror thriller, DARKROOM was released, Stein's short film MARKET TRIP; a look at earky on-set Alzheimers, showed during the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. In November 2014 the art house gem Billy Baytes was realeased.
In 2015 the much anticipated ANITA B.; the story of a young Auschwitz survivor, will be released in North America. ANITA B. had an international premiere with the selection of official Holocaust movie by Yad Vashem to be included in the Yad Vashem Holocaust Archives in Israel and seleceted for Special Screening at for the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Stein serves the film industry in a number of capacities, including advisory, production, post-production, investment, talent procurement, and distribution. He is a founding partner of the distribution company, Red Flag Releasing, along with former Warner Independent execs Paul Federbush and Laura Kim. He also serves on the board of directors of Cinetic Rights Management (FilmBuff).
FOAK maintains a diverse and eclectic roster of upcoming projects, including: the cyber thriller SARAHN_12; the original sci-fi transmedia title, KANTAROS; and the eye-opening Peruvian documentary, THE LITTLE FIREMEN.
